In the City of Philadelphia, there are many places that qualify as Cosmopolitan Canopies. These Canopies are â€Å"settings that offer a respite from the lingering tensions of urban life and an opportunity for diverse peoples to come together† (Anderson, XIV). Although, as you walk through the city, you may see a vast amount of diversity, there are certain places where the diversity is signified as a canopy. A canopy must have certain characteristics that say whether it is one or not. Characteristics involve comfort, the best behavior, peaceful relations and an abundance of racially, ethnically, and socially diverse people (Anderson, XV). After reading the novel The Cosmopolitan Canopy by Elijah Anderson, these areas of acceptance become very clear to you and the reasons they exist stand out more than ever. Observing LOVE Park for myself, I found out the true meaning to a Cosmopolitan Canopy and could now understand it from personal experience. As Anderson does a walking tour of Philadelphia, he sees the very divergent aspects of the city by observing the people, places and tension around him. Walking the readers through a very poor area of the city, to Center City and through an upper-middle-class area, he attempys to answer the question of how race is lived and considered in Philadelphia. Evolution is the sequencial process of change over periods of time, which shapes and establishes the formation of modern man. In referring to evolution, the word means various changes. Evolution refers to the fabrication and development of life on earth. Organic evolution is the concept that all living beings evolved from simple organisms and have changed throughout the periods of time to create many and various types of species.
